Hangzhou has robot electricians now
"This job is much easier than before." Recently, Sun Ruochen, a duty officer at the transmission and inspection center of State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company, put on an "exoskeleton" and effortlessly lifted a 50kg payload drone, walking briskly towards an electric tower. Later, the payload drone rose into the air with a mechanical arm. At a height of about 70 meters above ground, the joints of the mechanical arm skillfully rotated, replacing a vibration damper on the tower. The task of "relay maintenance" was completed in less than one hour by a combination of humans and robots, saving 50% of the operation time. This was the debut of robot electricians in Hangzhou, using the method of "exoskeleton transport + drone mounting + mechanical arm maintenance" to replace manual tasks, successfully overcoming the dual challenges of high temperatures and heights.
According to the relevant person in charge of State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company, the digitized inspection system of "machines replacing humans" has taken root in various tasks of the Hangzhou power grid. In the future, this technology will be expanded to more complex high-altitude work scenarios such as repairing overhead lines and replacing interval poles, providing strong intelligent technological support for the safe and stable operation of the power grid during critical periods such as peak summer demand.
