The finance and foreign ministers of South Korea and the United States will separately meet next week to discuss trade issues.

According to the announcement from the South Korean presidential office on the 26th, Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy and Finance Minister, Hong Nam-ki, will meet with the U.S. Treasury Secretary, Scott Benett, next week to finalize negotiations on the South Korea-US tariff issue. Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong will also meet with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo next week. The presidential office has held emergency meetings on economic and trade countermeasures for two consecutive days after the 26th, reviewing the high-level negotiations between South Korea and the United States, including the above-mentioned matters, and reaffirming the effort to reach an agreement before the U.S. implements "equal tariffs" on South Korea from August 1st.
