On the afternoon of July 26, local time, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft of American Airlines caught fire while taxiing for takeoff at Denver International Airport. The scene showed thick smoke billowing from the bottom of the plane as passengers evacuated through emergency slides. The Federal Aviation Administration of the United States stated that the fire may have been caused by landing gear issues. American Airlines confirmed that there were maintenance issues with the tires of the aircraft before takeoff. Airport authorities reported that after the incident, five passengers underwent health checks, with one person sustaining minor injuries and being taken to the hospital.
