On July 26, Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, stated that the tourism industry in Hong Kong achieved remarkable results in the first half of this year. Lam said that in the first half of the year, there were approximately 24 million visitors to Hong Kong, an increase of 12% compared to the previous year. Among them, about 17.8 million were visitors from Mainland China, an increase of 10% from the previous year, while the number of non-mainland visitors increased significantly by 17% to 5.84 million compared to the same period last year. Lam said this reflects the charm of Hong Kong's "East meets West" tourism elements, and its increasing attractiveness in the international tourism market.
