The number of Chinese inbound tourists to Singapore doubled last year compared to the previous year, making China the largest source of tourists for Singapore.
On July 24, the Singapore Oceanarium officially opened to the public. The Singapore Oceanarium is part of the $6.8 billion expansion project of Sentosa, Singapore, and Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-Charge of Trade Relations, Grace Fu, pointed out that the completion of the Singapore Oceanarium will help Singapore consolidate its position as a leading international tourist destination. It is understood that the expansion project mainly includes the development of the Marina Bay Integrated Resort and the Sentosa 2.0 plan, which includes the addition of new attractions, hotels, entertainment, and lifestyle experiences within the Sentosa Resort destination. The expanded Universal Studios Singapore has also introduced new themed areas, which were grandly unveiled in February of this year. According to the Singapore Tourism Board, the number of international visitors to Singapore is expected to reach 16.5 million in 2024, an increase of 21% compared to 2023, with 3.08 million visitors from China, an increase of 126% year-on-year, making China the largest source of tourists to Singapore. In addition, in the first quarter of 2025, tourists from China contributed approximately $1.29 billion Singapore dollars, ranking first.
