Hong Kong Housing Authority: Public housing completion exceeds expectations, gradually reversing the situation of "heavy at the end of supply"
According to the Economic Digest app, Stanley Wong, Director of the Hong Kong Housing Authority, stated during an interview that the Housing Authority has completed the construction of 168,000 public housing units from the 2022/23 fiscal year to present, achieving 54% of the target of 308,000 units set out in the "Long-Term Housing Strategy" for the next 10 years. This far exceeds the original estimate of 105,000 units, gradually reversing the trend of a shortage in the supply of housing. He emphasized that under government leadership, housing supply remains stable, and urged young people to plan their property purchases towards subsidised sale housing, and encouraged citizens in urgent need to apply for transitional public housing.
