Our country's scientists have broken the record for efficiency in cloning mouse somatic cells.
Researchers from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligent Technology have developed a highly efficient combination technology strategy. For the first time, they successfully overcame two major epigenetic barriers that hinder the healthy development of embryos before and after implantation in the mother's uterus within a single-cell cloned embryo. This has resulted in the proportion of transplanted embryos developing into healthy mice reaching approximately 30%, breaking the world record for mouse somatic cell cloning efficiency. This breakthrough provides strong support for future efficient cloning of large mammals. The related research findings were published on July 23 in the journal "Advanced Science".
