On the evening of July 23rd, China Nonferrous Mining Corporation announced on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that an object striking incident occurred in the shaft of the southeast ore body of its subsidiary, CNMC Africa Mining Limited, resulting in the death of a contractor's Chinese employee. In accordance with the regulations of the Zambia Mine Safety Management Authority and the company and its subsidiaries, CNMC Africa Mining's southeast ore body has temporarily ceased production since June 27, 2025. The temporary shutdown is initially expected to last for approximately 90 days. After the expert group completes the on-site inspection and evaluation, CNMC Africa Mining will formulate corrective measures in accordance with local regulations and determine the final shutdown deadline. According to the company's preliminary estimates, the shutdown of the southeast ore body is expected to affect the annual copper production from its own mines by approximately 14,500 tons in 2025, accounting for about 9% of the group's total annual planned copper production from its own mines.
