Offline "zero-cost purchase" activity! Shanghai: Has synchronized talks with related food delivery platforms and implemented three rectification measures.
In response to the escalating "takeout war" situation, the State Administration for Market Regulation held a meeting on July 18 with platform companies such as Ele.me, Meituan, and JD.com. As a specific response to policy implementation, the market supervision department in Shanghai also held meetings with Ele.me and other platforms. Currently, the platforms have implemented three reforms: completely suspending "zero-cost purchase" type promotional activities, significantly reducing the scope of free meal promotions, establishing a special task force to strengthen activity monitoring, price control, and rider rights protection, and enhancing social supervision and information transparency. Shanghais relevant departments will continue to adhere to the principle of balancing regulation and development, cracking down on illegal activities through strengthened regulatory measures. At the same time, platforms are required to strictly follow regulations in conducting promotions, ensuring the authenticity and commercial rationality of transactions, and building a win-win ecosystem for consumers, merchants, riders, and platforms to fully promote the healthy and sustainable development of the catering service industry.
