On the 22nd, experts from the World Health Organization issued a warning about mosquito-borne diseases, specifically Chikungunya fever, reminding countries to be prepared to avoid a large-scale outbreak. During a press conference held in Geneva on the same day, the head of the WHO Vector-borne diseases team, Diana Alvarez, stated that Chikungunya virus transmission has been detected in 119 countries and regions, putting approximately 5.5 million people at risk of this mosquito-borne virus. There is a possibility of a widespread outbreak, which would put pressure on healthcare systems.
