On the morning of July 22nd local time, the United Nations Security Council held a high-level public debate on "Promoting International Peace and Security through Multilateralism and Peaceful Conflict Resolution," and unanimously adopted a resolution on strengthening mechanisms for peaceful conflict resolution. The resolution calls on all member states to effectively utilize the peaceful conflict resolution mechanisms provided for in Chapter VI of the United Nations Charter, including negotiation, investigation, mediation, reconciliation, and other non-coercive means. Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Fu Cong spoke at the meeting, emphasizing that the international community should adhere to peaceful conflict resolution, uphold the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, ensure the effective functioning of the Security Council, and support the active role of the Global South.
