German startup Vulcan Energy announced that its first large industrial plant will start production at the end of 2026, with an annual output of 24,000 tons of lithium hydroxide. Vulcan has invested a total of 690 million euros in the project. The company will build a lithium chloride extraction facility in Landau, Rhineland-Palatinate, and convert it into lithium battery key material lithium hydroxide at a factory near Frankfurt. The company stated that the funds will be disbursed over 36 months starting from October 1st. The German Ministry of Economics pointed out that Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse will each provide approximately 30% of the matching funds.
