The International Energy Agency (IEA) has stated that global liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply will see its largest increase since 2019 next year, mainly driven by increased production in North America. According to the IEA's quarterly gas market report, after growing by 5.5% this year, supply is expected to accelerate by 7% by 2026, or 400 billion cubic meters per year. A project in Qatar is also expected to contribute to this growth. IEA gas analyst Gergely Molnar said, "It is expected that this will to some extent alleviate the market fundamentals and ultimately promote strong demand growth. 2026 will be the first year of the LNG boom, and to some extent, it will also be a test of how demand responds to strong growth, especially in Asia."
