Reporters learned from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology that in the first half of this year, the telecommunications industry operated basically stable. The total volume and revenue of telecommunications services continued to grow, the scale of 5G and gigabit users continued to expand, and mobile Internet access traffic maintained a fast growth momentum. Data shows that in the first half of the year, telecommunications service revenue maintained positive growth, reaching a total of 905.5 billion yuan, an increase of 1% year-on-year. Calculated at constant prices from the previous year, the total volume of telecommunications services increased by 9.3% year-on-year. The scale of fixed broadband access users steadily increased in the first half of the year. As of the end of June, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications companies reached 684 million households. Among them, users with access speeds of gigabit and above accounted for 33% of the total users. The construction of 5G networks continues to advance. As of the end of June, the total number of 5G base stations reached 4.549 million, accounting for 35.7% of the total number of mobile base stations. The number of 5G mobile phone users reached 1.118 billion, accounting for 61.8% of mobile phone users. Mobile Internet traffic also continued to grow rapidly. In the first half of the year, the cumulative mobile Internet traffic reached 186.7 billion GB, an increase of 16.4% year-on-year.
