Shanghai: Development and mass production of high-resolution full-color silicon-based OLED micro-displays for near-eye displays such as VR and MR in the Metaverse.

The Shanghai Economic and Information Technology Commission issued the "Shanghai Next Generation Display Industry High-Quality Development Action Plan". It points out the need to improve the level of silicon-based OLED technology. This includes focusing on near-eye displays for the metaverse VR/MR and supporting the research and production of high-resolution full-color silicon-based OLED microdisplays. Efforts will be made to overcome challenges such as large-sized CMOS driving, OLED strong micro cavities, stacked OLEDs, and high-yield anode structures, while optimizing the preparation process of silicon-based OLEDs to reduce costs. Encouragement will be given to promote the mass production of customized analog/digital low-power, high-resolution CMOS driving. The development of new AI intelligent microdisplays for high grayscale, low latency scenarios will be promoted, aiming to solve issues such as the silicon-based OLED moire effect, ghosting, glare, and color reproduction.
