In 2024, the water consumption per 10,000 yuan of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in our country decreased by 4.4% year on year.

The "China Water Conservation Report 2024" released by the Ministry of Water Resources recently shows that the total water consumption in China in 2024 increased by 2.15 billion cubic meters compared to 2023. The water consumption per unit of GDP and per unit of industrial added value, calculated at comparable prices, decreased by 4.4% and 5.3% respectively compared to 2023. The effective utilization coefficient of irrigation water in farmland increased to 0.580. The scale of unconventional water use continues to expand. In 2024, the national unconventional water use volume was 25.16 billion cubic meters, an increase of 3.93 billion cubic meters compared to 2023. In 2024, five mature and applicable water-saving technologies in the water sector were released; the national water rights trading platform conducted 11,312 water rights transactions, with a total water volume of 1.37 billion cubic meters; 25 provincial-level administrative regions launched financial services for "water-saving loans," with a total loan amount of 112.13 billion yuan.
