Typhoon "Weipa" has landed in Guangdong and a double yellow alert has been issued for high waves and storm surge.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, at 8 a.m. this morning, the center of Typhoon "Wipha", the sixth typhoon of the year, was located in Suixi County, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. It is expected that "Wipha" will move in a west-southwesterly direction and enter the Beibu Gulf this morning, with its intensity expected to increase. Due to the influence of Typhoon "Wipha", there are still large to huge waves in the Beibu Gulf and the northwestern part of the South China Sea. Storm surges of 30 to 120 centimeters are expected along the coast of Guangxi and the western coast of Leizhou Peninsula in Guangdong. The National Marine Forecasting Center has issued a yellow warning for waves and storm surges.
