Liu Jiancheng, former secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong Weifang Vocational College, was sentenced to ten years and six months in the first instance for bribery.

On July 16, 2025, the Intermediate People's Court of Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province, publicly sentenced Liu Jiancheng, former party secretary of Weifang Vocational College, for bribery in the first instance. The defendant Liu Jiancheng was sentenced to ten years and six months in prison for the crime of bribery, and was fined 800,000 yuan; the illegal gains from bribery and interest involved in the case shall be recovered and turned over to the state treasury in accordance with the law. After investigation, it was found that from January 2014 to February 2024, the defendant Liu Jiancheng, taking advantage of his positions as a member of the Standing Committee of Gaomi Municipal Committee, deputy secretary of the Party Group of Gaomi Municipal Government, deputy mayor of Gaomi City, secretary and director of the Party Group of Weifang Safety Production Supervision Administration, secretary and director of the Party Group of Weifang Emergency Management Bureau, secretary and director of the Party Group of Weifang Natural Resources and Planning Bureau, and party secretary of Weifang Vocational College, directly or through the behavior of other state personnel, provided assistance to relevant units and individuals in project contracting, payment of engineering funds, etc., and illegally accepted a total of more than 13.6 million yuan in bribes. The Intermediate People's Court of Zaozhuang City believed that Liu Jiancheng's actions constituted a crime of bribery with an especially large amount, and should be punished according to law. Considering that Liu Jiancheng had attempted but failed to commit the crime, truthfully confessed his crimes after being arrested, voluntarily confessed many bribery crimes that the investigating authorities had not yet uncovered, and most of the proceeds from the bribery crimes had been recovered, he voluntarily pleaded guilty and accepted punishment, and therefore was given a lenient sentence in accordance with the law. The court made the above judgment accordingly.
