Wang Yi meets with Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Vladimir Norov

On July 16, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Vladimir Norov, in Tianjin. Wang Yi stated that since China took over the rotating chairmanship of the SCO, more than 90 events have been held to promote cooperation in order to strengthen the organization. He hoped that the Secretary-General would continue to support the work of the Chinese chairmanship and cooperate in organizing a successful and fruitful summit. The SCO, as the most populous and geographically extensive regional organization with great potential, has attracted increasing attention from the international community. It can play a more important role in maintaining regional peace and stability, promoting development and rejuvenation, and contributing to the building of a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind.
