State Council Taiwan Affairs Office: Inviting Kuomintang veteran soldiers to participate in commemorative events is a respect for historical facts.
On July 16, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. Spokesperson Chen Binhua stated that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of the recovery of Taiwan. The Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was a great war of justice defeating evil, light overcoming darkness, and progress defeating reactionaries, and was an important part of the World Anti-Fascist War. The Democratic Progressive Party authorities have labeled the commemoration of the victory of the war of resistance as "political maneuvers and cognitive warfare", fully exposing their ugly face going against the historical trend and against the common values of human society. Chen Binhua pointed out that the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was a righteous struggle of all Chinese sons and daughters standing united, rallying together in enmity against the enemy, and resisting the aggression of Japanese militarism. Over 80 years ago, the cooperation between the enemy rear battlefield led by the Communist Party of China and the regular battlefield commanded by the Kuomintang formed a strategic situation of collectively resisting the Japanese invaders. Inviting Kuomintang veterans to participate in commemorative activities is a respect for historical facts and a recognition of their bloodshed and bravery in defending the country. The Democratic Progressive Party authorities not only do not hold commemorative events for the war of resistance, but also threaten and intimidate these war veterans, their intentions are abominable and their actions are shameful, and they will surely be met with the firm opposition of the people of Taiwan.
