According to EU diplomats, the European Commission has sent a letter to Slovak Prime Minister Pizzo stating that the EU will cooperate with Slovakia to address its concerns about gradually phasing out Russian natural gas. The letter states that if gas prices skyrocket due to supply shortages during the gradual phasing out of Russian natural gas, the EU will trigger an "emergency stop." The letter also outlines other measures, such as developing cross-border oil and gas trade tariffs for Slovakia. Earlier on the 15th, the EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels failed to reach a consensus on the 18th round of sanctions against Russia due to opposition from Malta and Slovakia. (CCTV News)
