Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng responded to the Hong Kong University student using AI to produce inappropriate photos of classmates: Serious action will be taken!
On July 15, Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, was interviewed by reporters before the Executive Council meeting. When asked about the incident of "HKU male students using AI to produce over 700 indecent photos", Carrie Lam responded that universities have a responsibility to deal seriously with students' behavioral issues. In addition to handling according to school regulations, if it involves illegal activities, it should also be reported to law enforcement agencies. Carrie Lam also mentioned that the Hong Kong government issued the "Guidelines on Generative AI Technology and Applications in Hong Kong" on April 8 this year, to promote practitioners to conduct generative AI-related businesses and activities safely and responsibly on the basis of strict compliance with technological ethics, moral standards, and legal norms, providing practical case references to assist in addressing safety issues and risks arising from generative AI technology.
