Amazon launches preview of AI programming tool Kiro
On July 14th local time, the leading cloud computing company Amazon announced the preview version of the AI programming tool Kiro. Unlike other AIs that just provide code prompts, Kiro can collaborate with programmers to define requirements, system design, and tasks to be implemented before writing any code. This puts Amazon directly in competition with existing tools like GitHub's Smart Agent Mode and Google's Gemini CodeAssist. Kiro is free during the preview period, and Amazon plans to introduce three pricing tiers in the future. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy stated that Kiro "has the potential to change the way developers build software".
