Hanoi will ban fuel motorcycles within the Third Ring Road, Vietnamese media reports: to promote the development of the Vietnamese electric vehicle industry and provide a model for solving pollution.
According to reports from various media outlets in Vietnam, starting from July 1st, 2026, the capital city of Hanoi will prohibit fuel motorcycles from entering the downtown area within the first ring road. The policy timeline disclosed by the Vietnamese government also indicates that by 2028, the ban will extend to the second ring road of Hanoi and there will be some control over fuel private cars, with relevant regulations being implemented within the area inside the third ring road of Hanoi by 2030. The government document states that this measure is aimed at providing a "smoke-free transportation development model that can be replicated in other major cities across the country."
