On July 14, 2025, the annual project review meeting of the National Social Science Fund was held in Beijing. Li Shulei, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, attended and delivered a speech. The meeting pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping has made a series of important speeches on the work of philosophy and social sciences, providing direction and fundamental principles for the prosperity and development of philosophy and social sciences in the new era, and constituting an important part of Xi Jinping's cultural thought. The philosophy and social science community should deeply study and comprehend, and fully implement it in the construction of various disciplines, research in various fields, and all aspects of work. It is necessary to profoundly grasp the major strategic task of building an independent knowledge system of Chinese philosophy and social sciences, adhere to the combination of "two integrations," and effectively promote the high-quality development of philosophy and social sciences. The meeting emphasized the need to focus on academic foundation, practice orientation, international perspective, historical dimension, and continue to deepen the systematization and interpretation of the party's innovative theoretical system in chemical science, and systematically and in-depth apply it to the construction of an independent knowledge system of Chinese philosophy and social sciences. We must adhere to field orientation, achieve Chinese accomplishments, study real problems, actively respond to the opportunities and challenges brought by technological changes, promote academic innovation through integration of Chinese and foreign cultures, and connect the past with the present. We must always focus on people, strengthen talent training, especially the discovery and support of young talents, promote the reform of the National Social Science Fund's funding, continuously improve the system mechanisms, foster a good academic ecosystem, and better stimulate the innovative creativity of philosophical and social science workers.
