A new round of heavy rainstorms invaded Texas at night, causing flooding in the affected areas again.
After another night of heavy rainfall triggering flash floods, rivers in central Texas, Concho Valley, and Hill County continue to rise. Just over a week ago, the area was devastated by flooding on July 4th which resulted in at least 120 deaths and many others missing. Scott Kliebauer, a forecaster at the National Weather Service, stated that the area received 2 to 4 inches of rain in large areas, with some places receiving over 8 inches, and thunderstorms are still persistently attacking the region. Although the heaviest rain may have passed early this morning, more thunderstorms are expected later in the day. Kliebauer said, "The current weather situation is such that there will definitely be heavy rain tonight. The area is already very fragile, and any form of heavy rain could trigger problems." The capital of Texas, Austin, and northern and western areas were hit by devastating floods on July 4th, when heavy rainfall caused river levels to rise at an alarming rate.
