The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on its official website on the 12th that Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Son-gwon held the second round of strategic dialogue between Russia and North Korea in Wonsan, North Korea. The announcement stated that the two sides exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, and agreed to jointly work towards resolving current issues through political diplomacy and resisting attempts by external forces to escalate tensions in Northeast Asia and the entire Asia-Pacific region. Lavrov told reporters after the strategic dialogue that both Russia and North Korea believe that the unresolved issue of the Korean Peninsula has a negative impact on the overall situation in Northeast Asia and the equal and mutually beneficial cooperation among countries in the region. External forces attempting to form a "narrow alliance" and promote NATO infrastructure construction in the Asia-Pacific region is "dangerous". The North Korean side expressed firm support for Russia's special military actions. Russia thanked the Korean People's Army for its contribution to the recovery of the Russian Kursk Oblast. Lavrov also mentioned that with the signing of the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty" in June 2024, the cooperation between Russia and North Korea in areas such as economy, trade, and culture has made significant progress. The two sides will also resume maritime routes and actively promote the development of the tourism industry.
