The US government has announced visa restrictions on several high-ranking Cuban officials, prompting a backlash from the Cuban Foreign Minister.
According to Agence France-Presse, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on social media platform X on the 11th local time that the U.S. State Department is imposing visa restrictions on Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and other senior government officials. The report included that other sanctioned officials also include the Cuban Minister of Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Minister of the Interior. In addition, the U.S. State Department also added a 42-story building in Havana, which is allegedly linked to the Cuban government, to the restricted entity list. Cuban Foreign Minister Rodriguez later criticized the U.S. for this move on the X platform, stating that the Trump administration cannot "shake the will of the Cuban people or their leaders."
