According to the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on July 11, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with British Foreign Secretary Rami in Kuala Lumpur. Wang Yi stated that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Stammer, China-UK relations have embarked on a track of improvement and development. Both sides should return to the original intention of being strategic partners, grasp the momentum of mutually beneficial cooperation, uphold mutual respect, properly handle differences, and respond to the expectations of various sectors in both countries. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of World War II. As co-founders of the post-war order and permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and the UK should also jointly fulfill their international obligations, defend the achievements of the victory of World War II, uphold the free trade system, and make new contributions to world peace and development. Rami stated that current improvements in UK-China relations are positive, with interactions at all levels becoming increasingly frequent. The UK looks forward to further strengthening communication with China, taking more substantive actions, and promoting cooperation in various fields such as economic and trade. The UK adheres to the one-China policy and is committed to developing a stable and mature relationship with China. The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional hot issues such as the Iran nuclear issue and the Ukraine crisis.
