The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television issues a management guidance: eliminate the trend of overly entertainment-oriented and anti-intellectual micro-drama.
On July 11th, the Network Audiovisual Program Management Department of the National Radio and Television Administration issued a management tip, emphasizing the need to resolutely eliminate extreme "anti-intellectual", "outrageous" and "outlandish" tendencies in character portrayal and plot development. In recent years, micro-short film creation has shown a positive creative trend, with both horizontal and vertical micro-dramas demonstrating expressions of positive energy and style that are forward-thinking, virtuous and beautiful. This is not unrelated to the measures taken by the Radio and Television Administration to promote high-quality creative works. The management tip also points out that a few vertical micro-drama production organizations and broadcasting platforms resort to gimmicky and risky tactics in pursuit of so-called "explosive hits", showing a tendency towards excessive entertainmentization. Some micro-dramas even disguise as artistic creations, whimsically weaving, arbitrarily deconstructing and even trivializing, infantilizing and anti-intellectualizing reality and logic, which negatively impacts the good image that the micro-short film industry has been striving to establish.
