Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd (CATL) files another lawsuit against Hai Chen Energy Storage and Wu Zuyu for "unfair competition".

CATL sued Haichen Energy and its chairman Wu Zuyu on the grounds of "unfair competition". The case was accepted by the Intermediate People's Court of Ningde City, Fujian Province, and will be heard on August 12. This lawsuit involves multiple companies including Xiamen Rare Earth Materials Research Institute. Industry insiders said that this case may revolve around the intellectual property rights of third-generation battery cores, but officials from Haichen Energy responded that the lawsuit is not related to technology, has limited impact on the IPO, and the compensation for losing the case will not affect their operations. In 2023, CATL accused Wu Zuyu of violating the non-compete agreement, poaching core technical talents, causing "incalculable" losses. Wu Zuyu had already paid a penalty of 1 million yuan in September 2023. Public information shows that many core management members of Haichen Energy come from CATL, and Wu Zuyu was accused of using his connections to dominate the energy storage market. CATL has not yet responded.
