Two papers published in the journal Nature on the 9th showed that scientists have extracted ancient proteins, dating back at least 18 million years, from fossils of rhinoceros and other related animals. These two studies suggest that proteins can be preserved for much longer than previously thought, providing new clues for the evolutionary history of many species.
