For two consecutive days, Trump has been pressuring Fed Chairman Powell to lower interest rates.
President Trump posted on the social media platform "Truth Social" once again urging Federal Reserve Chairman Powell to lower interest rates. The day before, on the 9th, Trump criticized the current interest rate policy of the Federal Reserve on social media, stating that the Fed's set interest rates are at least 3 percentage points too high, causing the United States $360 billion in refinancing costs each year for each percentage point. According to the U.S. Consumer News and Business Channel, Trump is considering appointing a "shadow chairman" to the Federal Reserve before Powell's term ends next year, in order to pressure the Fed and force them to lower interest rates.
