According to the Zhutong Financial APP, global copper traders are providing copper products to Chinese buyers because they hope to handle the copper inventory that cannot be shipped to the United States before the deadline of the 50% copper tariff set by President Trump. Trump stated later on Wednesday that this new tariff will be implemented starting August 1st, aimed at promoting domestic production of various products from semiconductors to ammunition. However, he did not specify which copper products will be affected by this, nor did he mention whether exceptions will be considered.
