Trump criticizes the Fed's interest rate policy again, urging a rate cut.
On July 9th, US President Trump criticized the current interest rate policy of the Federal Reserve once again on social media platforms, stating that the interest rates set by the Federal Reserve are at least 3 percentage points too high, causing a refinancing cost of $360 billion to the US each year for each percentage point. According to the Consumer News and Business Channel in the US, Trump is considering appointing a "shadow chairman" for the Federal Reserve before Chairman Powell's departure next year in order to pressure the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates.
