On July 9th local time, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced sanctions against United Nations Human Rights Council special rapporteur Francesca Albanese on social media platforms, accusing her of pushing the International Criminal Court to take action against US and Israeli officials, companies, and executives in an "illegal and shameful manner". Pompeo stated that Albanese's actions against the US and Israel would no longer be tolerated, and the US will always support its partners in defending their right to self-defense.
