J.P. Morgan economists have released a new estimate for the average tariff rate, covering the tariffs announced by President Trump this week on 14 countries to be imposed on August 1st. Michael Feroli and Abiel Reinhart of J.P. Morgan estimate that after the implementation of these tariffs, the average tariff rate in the United States will increase from 13.4% to 14.6%.
