According to reports, trade negotiating representatives from around the world have flown to Washington DC from far away in hopes of reaching an agreement with President Trump - especially Asian delegations, whose journey is the furthest. Due to the fact that most have not yet reached a final agreement, the momentum of traveling to the US will not slow down in the short term. Since Trump announced "reciprocal" tariffs on April 2nd, Asian country representatives, including those from Japan, India, and Indonesia, have visited Washington DC at least 20 times. Their total flight time exceeds 770 hours, equivalent to a whole month in the air, and their flight distance exceeds 350,000 miles - equivalent to circling the Earth 14 times. This data is based on the most direct commercial flight routes from Asian capitals to Washington DC, as well as publicly available information on official trade meetings. The statistics do not include additional travel time or long-distance calls, or informal discussions held between events, such as the G7 summit earlier this year in Canada or the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit held in South Korea.
