On July 9th, Zheng Zhajie, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated at a press conference of the State Council Information Office that in the main indicators of the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" formulated five years ago, progress in economic growth, labor productivity, and research and development investment of the whole society all met expectations. Eight indicators including the urbanization rate of the resident population, life expectancy, and the comprehensive production capacity of grain and energy sources exceeded expectations. The strategic tasks determined in the plan have been fully implemented, and 102 major projects deployed are progressing smoothly. Overall, in these 5 years, new groundbreaking progress, breakthrough reforms, and historic achievements have been made.
