According to CNBC, three sources familiar with the matter revealed that Starbucks China has attracted multiple bids for a potential equity sale, with the coffee chain's valuation reaching as high as $10 billion. The sources stated that nearly 30 private equity firms from China and abroad have submitted non-binding offers, with proposals currently on the table valuing the business at between $5 billion and $10 billion. One source suggested that given Starbucks' market value of around $108 billion and the fact that its China operations contribute over 8% of global revenue, a reasonable valuation would be around $9 billion. The sources mentioned that Starbucks is currently evaluating bidders' offers, transaction structures, and post-sale value creation plans before selecting potential buyers. They indicated that the selection process may be completed within two months, but the entire transaction is unlikely to be completed by the end of this year. An individual familiar with the transaction process suggested that Starbucks may retain 30% of the equity, with the remaining equity divided among a group of buyers, each holding no more than 30%.
