Deepali Bhargava, Research Director for the Asia-Pacific region at the Netherlands International Group, reported that India may be the next country to reach a trade agreement with the United States. Trump recently stated that the United States is very close to reaching a deal with India. Bhargava said that India was one of the first countries to start trade negotiations with the United States, and recently offered tariff concessions in politically and economically sensitive sectors including agriculture and dairy. She said that if India makes some concessions in terms of agricultural imports, the two countries may soon reach an agreement.
