On July 8th local time, flights at the airport in Bergamo, Italy were briefly suspended due to a runway accident. The Bergamo-Milan Airport Authority stated that all flights at Orio al Serio Airport in Bergamo were suspended from 10:20 to 12:00 that day due to issues on the taxiway runway. Local media reported that an unnamed airport official said that someone ran onto the apron while a plane was taking off and was sucked into the engine. The plane involved was an Airbus A319 operated by Vueling Airlines, which was preparing to fly to Asturias, Spain. An investigation is currently underway.
