The General Office of the National Health Commission recently issued a notice prohibiting the use of "jejunoileal bypass surgery" for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The notice proposes that in order to further strengthen the management of clinical application of medical technology, the National Health Commission organized an evaluation of the use of "jejunoileal bypass surgery in the treatment of type 2 diabetes", and the evaluation found that this technology lacks basic theoretical support and high-quality evidence-based medicine support. The safety and effectiveness of clinical application was uncertain. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Administrative Measures for Clinical Application of Medical Technology", it has been decided to prohibit the use of "jejunoileal bypass surgery" in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
