Nigerian militia in central Nigeria ambushed by bandits, at least 70 people killed.

On July 7th local time, in the Kuka Kawa and Buni Yeni communities near the Kanam local government area of Plateau State in central Nigeria, local community vigilantes were ambushed while chasing bandits, resulting in at least 70 vigilantes being killed. Kuka Kawa security team chairman Aliyu Bafa said that the vigilantes were attacked on their way to the bandits' hideout in the government forest reserve, where the bandits were well-equipped and opened fire on the vigilantes, resulting in more than 70 deaths. Aliyu Bafa also stated that some of the vigilantes are still missing.
