South African President counterattacks Trump's comments on BRICS countries.
Recently, US President Trump threatened to impose an additional 10% tariff on countries that "follow the anti-American policies of the BRICS countries." In response to this, South African President Ramaphosa strongly emphasized during a media interview in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that "bullying the weak by the strong should not be tolerated" and that "cooperation should not be subject to retaliation." Ramaphosa stated, "There should be no retaliation towards countries seeking cooperation and working towards the interests of humanity." Furthermore, Ramaphosa pointed out that BRICS countries should not be seen as opposing forces to existing institutions like the United Nations or the G20, but rather as emerging centers in the global governance and development multipolar trend.
