The Chinese Consulate General in Christchurch reminded Chinese tourists to pay attention to traffic safety on July 8. According to a report from the New Zealand police, on the morning of July 8, a bus carrying a Chinese tour group overturned in the South Island of New Zealand, resulting in multiple injuries and rescue operations are underway. The Consulate General will closely monitor the situation of the injured and provide consular services and assistance in a timely manner. The Consulate General once again reminds Chinese citizens traveling to New Zealand recently that the South Island of New Zealand has entered winter, with unpredictable weather, rain and snow alternating, slippery roads, and occasional "black ice." Chinese tourists are advised to enhance their awareness of safety, obey traffic rules, reduce speed, drive slowly, avoid sudden braking or turning; strictly prohibit drunk driving or driving when fatigued; and always fasten their seat belts when riding.
