Buying concert tickets ended up being deducted nearly 200,000 yuan, CCTV exposed a scam tailor-made for fans.
Recently, as the performance market continues to heat up, some popular show tickets are "hard to come by". Various scams tailored to fan groups have been frequent, with new types of fraud emerging constantly. Ms. Wang, a resident of Wenzhou, wanted to attend a concert by a certain singer, but since the tickets on the official platform were sold out, she turned to a second-hand trading platform to find resale information. After contacting the "seller", Ms. Wang was asked to conduct the transaction outside the platform. The "customer service" informed Ms. Wang that the amount to be transferred was just a string of numbers to unfreeze an account, and that it would not actually be transferred. Due to the "failed transfer" on her first attempt, Ms. Wang lowered her guard and, under the continuous urging and inducement of the "customer service", eventually transferred 198,198 yuan. When the bank sent a message indicating that the transfer was successful, Ms. Wang realized that she had been scammed and immediately reported it to the police. With the efforts of the police, Ms. Wang's over 190,000 yuan was successfully recovered, and the case is still being further investigated.
