Among the major trading partners vying for a framework agreement with the United States are India, Canada, South Korea, and possibly the European Union, although each country has faced difficulties in negotiations. The agreement may include the purchase of American goods such as natural gas, agricultural products, and weapons, as well as agreements to open certain markets for American companies. According to trade experts, India entered negotiations early and has been given priority by the Trump administration. Mark Linscott, Senior Advisor at The Asia Group, said that India may reach an agreement that includes lowering certain tariffs on both sides, with the goal of reaching a larger bilateral agreement.
