Media: US Defense Secretary suspends arms shipments to Ukraine again on his own
According to reports, the US Department of Defense has postponed its plans to ship weapons to Ukraine this week, citing concerns about low supplies. However, according to three US officials, an analysis by senior military officials found that this aid plan would not jeopardize the US military's own ammunition supply. Multiple sources revealed that the US State Department, members of Congress, officials in Kiev, and European allies were caught off guard by the decision to halt weapon shipments. Senior members of the House Armed Services Committee, such as Smith, said, "In terms of stockpiles, our levels are no lower now than they were three and a half years ago during the conflict in Ukraine." Three congressional aides and a former US official said that the decision to temporarily halt military aid to Ukraine was taken unilaterally by US Defense Secretary Hegseth. Sources said that this is the third time Hegseth has unilaterally stopped the shipment of aid to Ukraine. The previous two decisions in February and May were overturned a few days later.
