Shanghai Consumer Council: in the first half of the year, 150,113 consumer complaints were handled, an increase of 18.2% year-on-year. Blind box and figurine-related online shopping complaints deserve attention.
According to the category of complaints, there were a total of 100,737 complaints related to goods, accounting for 67.1% of the total complaints. Among them, clothing, household goods, and home appliances were the top 3 categories of complaints, with 22,810, 17,572, and 7,966 complaints respectively. There were 49,376 complaints related to services, accounting for 32.9% of the total complaints. The top 3 categories of complaints in the service sector were internet services, transportation, and beauty services, with 8,650, 4,308, and 3,216 complaints respectively. In terms of the nature of complaints, contract issues accounted for 52.09%, after-sales service issues accounted for 18.57%, and quality and other issues accounted for 29.34%. It is worth noting that the emotional value of blind boxes and figurines is increasingly sought after by consumers. In the first half of the year, the municipal Consumer Protection Commission received a total of 2,749 complaints related to collectible toys. The main complaints were related to the increasing market value of the products, delayed delivery by merchants, and merchants failing to take responsibility for after-sales service by using excuses such as "does not support seven-day no reason return or exchange policy."
